The relationship between parent and child is one that is ever changing and growing. ![]() No two children are alike and accordingly, no two parents are alike. My aim in supporting parents is to help you come to a place where you feel authentically you in your relationship with your child. As a parent myself, I understand and empathize with how overwhelming the process of becoming the parent you want to be can be and indeed, how parents can easily lose themselves in all the different parenting advice out there. I have successfully worked with families from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, consider myself an ally to LGBTQ families, as well as being a neuro diverse affirming therapist. Regardless of your family structure, composition, or diversity – you are welcome in my practice. I also facilitate co-parenting counseling for those parents who would like a dedicated space to fine-tune their parenting strategies, to get on the same page as partners or become more consistent across different households. As well as individual, family therapy, and group sessions for parents/caregivers. In light of this, I offer support for parents/caregivers in parallel with treatment for your child. Toward the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities you are learning in real-life settings during the supervised professional practice sequence (pre-practicum, practicum, and internship). This 90-credit program can be completed in eight quarters or two years (including two summers), but you may also opt for greater scheduling flexibility with a 3- or 4-year schedule. Each face-to-face class meets once a week at the Everett University Center, while hybrid courses meet in person five times per quarter. Review our academic plan to learn which classes are face-to-face, online, and hybrid. The MA in Rehabilitation Counseling program is fully CACREP-accredited and uses a combination of face-to-face, asynchronous online, and hybrid courses. MA in Rehabilitation Counseling Program Overview Your role will involve case management, accessing assistive technology, facilitating self-advocacy, and psychological, vocational, social, and behavioral interventions. This form of counseling is goal-oriented: you will develop the skills to help people with physical, mental, developmental, cognitive and emotional disabilities to achieve self-determination, independence, meaningful employment, and full community participation. Rehabilitation counselors understand that the medical and psychosocial elements of disabilities are informed by cultural contexts, and the resulting counseling process is built around co-collaboration between each individual and their counselor. Many types of counseling degrees are available, but only rehabilitation counseling is designed specifically to serve individuals with disabilities.
